Rebecca Lee Close
Hi, I’m Rebecca.
I’m originally from Vancouver, Canada, but I’ve called Sheffield home since 2016. In that time, I’ve gained a dog, two wonderful sons, and even British citizenship.
Before becoming a yoga teacher, I worked as a deck officer on cruise and cargo ships, which is where my yoga journey began. It’s also where I met my husband, who brought me to the (sometimes) sunny city of Sheffield.
I trained as a yoga teacher in Vancouver in 2016, learning from incredible Anusara yoga teachers who shaped my early focus on alignment and technique. Since then, I’ve trained in many different styles, blending them into my own approach—one that meets each individual and group where they are, helping them move and feel their best.
I’m a mother of two amazing sons. These boys are some of the main reasons I practise yoga regularly, to stay strong, both physically and mentally. But also to maintain an understanding of my needs, when to ask for help, and when to say no.
With extensive training in pain care, yin yoga, yoga for sports, functional yoga, alignment yoga, Heart and Bones yoga, women's health, and more, I offer a diverse range of styles and levels to help you find the practice that best supports your needs. Whether you're looking for strength, mobility, relaxation, or pain relief, there’s a yoga practice for you.
My Passions
-
Pain Management
I have lived with chronic pain for over 20 years and have studied and practised movement in ways to manage it and to function well.
-
Athletic Support
I love learning about anatomy and functional movement so I can incorporate this into my teachings.
-
Move Well
Using my knowledge in sports and pain care, I like to fuse these together to help every day people move well in every day life.
-
Strength
As well as functional movement, I also love getting sweaty with some supportive strength work. I use music and movement to create strong foundations that is both useful and cathartic.
